During World War II an entire generation of musicians and composers felt the tragic effects of the Nazi regime. Celebrate the power of the human spirit as violinist Jocelyn Adelman and pianist Amanda Halstead perform music by Alexander Zemlinsky, a Jewish composer forced into exile, Ernst Krenek, banned for his “degenerate” music, and Olivier Messiaen, who continued to create even when imprisoned in a Nazi prison camp.
Co-presented with the Holocaust Commission of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater
