One hundred years ago in Paris, the lights went up on the premiere performance of The Rite of Spring. In Stravinsky’s music and Nijinsky’s choreography, every note, every step cried out for revolution. Celebrate a masterpiece that changed music and dance forever, in this performance that unites the full Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Richmond Ballet. Richmond Ballet will be performing the version created in 1993 with choreography by Salvatore Aiello. Opening the evening is the famed Stravinsky/George Balanchine masterwork, Duo Concertante.
