In the early 20th century, Paris was the center of the modernist universe, a constellation of international stars including Igor Stravinsky, George Balanchine, Sergei Diaghilev, Pablo Picasso, and more. Among these, the great dancer Vaslav Nijinsky burned like a comet, challenging audiences with his daring choreography and enthralling performances. His career ended in just a decade, as he withdrew into seclusion and a long battle with schizophrenia. In this award-winning play, Ricardo Melendez captures “the essential spark of genius and madness that lived side by side in Nijinsky” (NPR).
