This Grammy-winning ensemble blithely leaps boundaries, from classical to jazz to world to folk and beyond, collaborating with virtuosos in every genre. In this return Virginia Arts Festival engagement, Turtle Island welcomes singer Tierney Sutton, for “jazz at its finest, brilliantly played” (Sacramento Bee), complemented by Sutton’s “fiercely percussive scat improvisations— taut, demanding exercises in precision and unrelenting speed” (The New York Times).
