Asst. to Technical Director/Intern

 

Experienced assistant sought to oversee production activities in fast paced performing arts center/road house. Intern also has opportunity to work with one of the nation’s most highly acclaimed performing arts festivals, the Virginia Arts Festival. Skills in electrics, audio, fly, crewing and leadership required. Knowledge of ETC lighting helpful. The TCC Roper Performing Arts Center (www.tcc.edu/roper/) is a 900-seat theatre presenting theatre, dance and concert as well as local events. 10-month position . Asst. to the Marketing Department


Virginia Arts Festival is seeking individuals who are pursuing a degree in Media Communications or the Performing Arts specializing in Public Relations, Advertising or Journalism with a career orientation or personal interest in the arts.

Internship opportunity offers hands-on experience in a variety of areas related to the performing arts, marketing and public relations. Candidates must have strong organizational skills, be self-starting and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.

This internship will have a firm emphasis on creating and disseminating press releases; therefore, the successful candidates must have proven writing experience.

  • Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: organizing and maintaining press packets and publicity materials including assembly
  • Organizing and maintaining media lists of local and regional contacts
  • Drafting press releases to distribute to media
  • Pitching long range stories for regional and national magazines
  • Coordinating advertising and promotions
  • Assisting with direct mail and brochure distribution
  • Supporting the marketing staff in day to day tasks
